Phillies’ Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt wrote an inspirational letter to Charlie Manuel. He had asked Charlie to post it on locker room door for all of the players to read prior to the game against the Mets. I have it posted below:
Guys,
One pitch, one at-bat, one play, one situation, think ’small’ and ‘big’ things [...]

To say that this upcoming series with the New York Mets at Shea Stadium is important is an understatement. The Phillies need to win at least 2 out of 3 from the Mets to bring them within 1 game of taking over the N.L. East. If they faulter from this they mine as well consider [...]

Yesterday the Phillies unleashed some of their best pitching to date against the Chicago Cubs. Brett Myers was dominant on the mound once again since his return to the majors. Myers pitched 7 innings while allowing 2 earned runs on 11 hits. He also struck out 8 batters and walked none. The Phillies’ bullpen did [...]

The Philadelphia Phillies are playing for a sweep tonight against the Los Angeles Dodgers. This follows an earlier sweep of the Phillies administered by the Dodgers in the middle of August. The Phils are currently sitting 1/2 game out of 1st behind the New York Mets. So, with tonight’s finalization of the sweep we would [...]

Last night Brett Myers had the Bucs walk the plank in his 7 2/3 inning outing sinking the Jolly Rogers with a score of 4-2. Myers allowed 5 hits, 1 BB, 1 run while striking out 6 Pirates and providing some post celebration fireworks with Manager Charlie Manuel. Myers had a little scurvy on the [...]

Last night Brett Myers shut down the Washington Nationals to gain his 1st win since returning from the minor leagues. Myers only allowed 1 run, 1 walk and 4 hits over 7 innings in which he also plunked Ronnie Belliard and Paul Lo Duca in the process. Understandably the Nationals are the worst offensive team [...]

The Phillies starting pitcher turned bullpen help Adam Eaton was demoted yesterday to AAA Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs. This comes off of a 2 inning mess on Sunday against the Braves that he allowed 3 runs with 2 of them being longballs. Eaton was recently demoted into the bullpen hoping he could at least fill [...]

The Phillies fought back again today with the longball to win the final game of the homestand against the Atlanta Braves. The Phils accrued 5 homeruns over 9 innings from Rollins, Victorino, Burrell, Werth and Chris Coste. There were a total of 14 hits bringing them to their 12-10 victory and 1 game closer [...]

The Philadelphia Phillies square off tomorrow against their biggest division rival the New York Mets. The Phillies have the newly aquired right hander Joe Blanton (4.96 ERA) taking the mound against the Mets’ ace Johann Santana (3.10 ERA) . Blanton has yet to give up a run in 15 career innings against the Mets [...]

Tonight I heard that the Phillies acquired Joe Blanton through a trade of 3 minor league prospects. The Phillies sent Adrian Cardenas, Josh Outman and Matthew Spencer in return for the solid right handed hurler. With Brett Myers still slated to return on 07/23 against the Mets that pushes Adam Eaton out of the rotation [...]
